GUNDOG PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE

Over the past 30 years Nick has taken thousands of gundog images and with over 100 front covers published in various field sports magazines he is considered by many as the leading gundog photographer in the UK. Since 2006 his 1-2-1 dog photography courses have been enjoyed by hundreds of participants.

COURSE PARTICULARS

​

The course will suit photographers that have a sound knowledge of their DSLR’s and have an interest in photographing gundogs working in the field. This is an outdoors based course and therefore it is weather dependent and the dates may be moved if weather conditions are not suitable. Photographers will ideally need a zoom lens (70- 200 mm is ideal) and be prepared to spend most of the session either sitting, kneeling or laying on the ground…so water-proof leggings and coat are a must!  Nick will teach you the various techniques that he uses to enable him to capture working gundogs in various scenarios, you WILL NOT spend hours looking through his photographs! This is a practical course with the emphasis on taking images and how to set up shots. We have a good variety of well trained different gundog breeds available including Labradors, Springers, Cockers and HPR’s, we will be using canvas retrieving dummies, cold game and possibly live homing pigeons. We will cover scenarios such as dogs hunting in woodland and rough areas, jumping, retrieving, water – work, setting up shots to increase your hit rate, Nick will also pass on some valuable tips on gundog body language and how to maximise that knowledge.
